Sunbelt Shutters is a family business. We build custom exterior shutters to order in our own shop and ship them across the United States.
Why We Started
Mike and Michelle Shell founded Sunbelt Shutters in the spring of 2004 with one idea: a homeowner should be able to get premium, made-to-measure exterior shutters at a fair price, without a middleman. Twenty years on, that is still the whole business.
Our shutters started on homes around the South and now go up all over the country. Every one is built to the customer’s sizes, in the style and wood they choose, and shipped straight to the home or building site. Because we build them ourselves and never out-source construction, we control the quality at every step and pass the savings on to you.
How We Build
We use furniture-grade Select Grade lumber from managed forests: Southern Yellow Pine, Incense Cedar, Red Grandis and African Mahogany, plus Rough Sawn Cedar for a rustic face and Extira composite for shutters that will never rot. Joints are tongue and groove, doweled, glued with exterior polyurethane and screwed with a plugged, ceramic-coated screw. Fasteners are corrosion-resistant. Composite and board and batten shutters are primed before assembly, free, so every hidden surface is sealed.
We stand behind that work with a 5-year material and workmanship warranty, transferable once to the next owner of your home.
Who We Serve
Homeowners restoring a period house, builders finishing a street of new homes, and contractors and installers who need the same shutter a hundred times. Homeowners get a person on the phone who can help pick a style and check measurements. The trade gets volume pricing and tax-exempt ordering.
