Shutter Hinges & Pintles

The pintle mounts to your house, window casing or brick and carries the pin. The hinge fastens to the back of the shutter and has a barrel that drops over that pin. You need one of each for every hinge point, and both must be from the same pin-size family.

The hinge offset plus the pintle offset has to clear any trim, brick mould or siding between the shutter and the wall so the shutter can close flat. Measure how far the trim stands proud of the wall and call us if you are unsure.

Most shutters use two hinges each, so a window with two shutters needs four hinges and four pintles. Taller or heavier shutters may need a third, center hinge on each side.
