How Bahama Hardware Fits Together
Each Bahama shutter needs one top hinge and a pair of arms or hooks.
- Top hinge: the 48" sliding aluminum hinge runs the full width and can be cut to length; Suffolk and New York steel hinges give a traditional look.
- Arms: fixed 14", 24" or 36", or adjustable 22" to 34". Longer arms prop the shutter wider.
- Hooks: a simpler hold-open at a set angle.
Bahama shutters are not certified hurricane or storm shutters.
Questions
Do I need one kit per shutter?
Yes. Each kit has the hinge and arms (or hooks) for one Bahama shutter.
Can I cut the sliding hinge?
Yes. The 48" sliding hinge is designed to be field cut to your shutter width, and you can combine sets for longer lengths.
Black or white?
Many pieces come in both. White kits and arms suit white trim; black suits dark shutters and traditional homes.
Are Bahama shutters hurricane rated?
No. Bahama shutters and this hardware are not certified hurricane or storm shutters.
