About the New York 'L' Hinge Set
Four New York 'L' hinges and four pintles in one box, matched for how your shutters mount.
Lynn Cove's New York style is a lighter, lower-profile colonial hinge system built around a 3/8" pin. It is made in galvanized steel with a black powder coat, and every New York hinge fits every New York pintle, so you can mix mounting styles on the same house.
Choosing the offset
Offset is the distance from the mounting surface to the center of the pin. The hinge offset plus the pintle offset must clear any trim, brick mould or siding between the shutter and the wall so the shutter closes flat.
- Flat trim or none: a flat or small-offset hinge on a 3/4" pintle is usually enough.
- Brick mould or thick casing: step up to 1 3/4" or 2 1/4", or use a brick-mount pintle.
- Deep reveals or stone: the longest offsets or an adjustable lag pintle.

Which hinges and pintles does it work with?
Any Lynn Cove New York style hinge or pintle (3/8" pin). It will not fit Lynn Cove Suffolk hardware (1/2" pin) or John Wright cast iron New York hardware (7/16" pin).
Galvanized or stainless steel?
Lynn Cove recommends galvanized steel for homes at least 20 miles from the coast and stainless steel for coastal homes and storm shutters. Both carry the same black powder coat.
