About the Louisiana Style Gravity Hinge Set
Lynn Cove's newest hinge is a cast steel version of the traditional Louisiana (gravity) hinge. The shutter lifts slightly as it opens and settles into a locked position, so it stays open in the wind without a shutter dog. Choose stainless steel within 25 miles of salt water.
Lynn Cove Foundry & Forge hardware is finished with a durable, UV-resistant powder coat over a corrosion-protection pretreatment and carries Lynn Cove's 5-year warranty.

Questions
How does a gravity hinge stay open?
The hinge is shaped so the shutter rides up as it swings open and drops into a seat at the fully open position. Lift the shutter slightly to close it.
Galvanized or stainless steel?
Lynn Cove recommends galvanized steel for homes at least 20 miles from the coast and stainless steel for coastal homes and storm shutters. Both carry the same black powder coat.
