Plugs or Screws? Pick by What Your Wall Is Made Of
Shutterplugs — for brick, stucco, stone, concrete, fiber cement, vinyl or aluminum siding, shingle or shake: anywhere a screw will not hold without an anchor. Drill a 1/4" hole through the shutter into the wall, tap the plug in with a hammer, done. The reverse barbs lock it in permanently, it will not back out in high winds, and it never rusts.
Painted screws — for mounting into real wood: studs, trim or wood siding. The shutters can come back down later for painting, scraping or pressure washing. Combination slotted/Phillips pan head, color-matched.

Both are molded or painted in the same 22 colors as Mastic vinyl shutters, so the heads disappear into the shutter face. Both can be repainted later with a latex-free exterior paint.
How Many Do I Need?
- Shutterplugs: one bag of 12 mounts one pair of shutters (6 per shutter).
- Painted screws: four to a bag. Shutters up to 55" tall use 4 screws each — two bags per pair. Shutters taller than 55" use 6 screws each — three bags per pair.

One bag of 12 plugs per pair of shutters. Screws: two bags of 4 per pair up to 55" tall, three bags per pair above 55".
What does shipping cost?
Plugs and screws ship from the manufacturer by standard catalog shipping: $16.75 for the first bag and $1.60 for each additional bag. Added to a vinyl shutter order, each bag rides along for $1.60. Allow 1–2 weeks.
